Monica Lavagna obtained the M.Sc. in Architecture and the Ph.D. in Technology and Design for the Environmental Quality at Building and Urban Scale, she is associate professor at Politecnico di Milano, where she teaches in bachelor and master courses in Architecture (School AUIC) and where she develop researches activities (ABC department).
Since 2007 she is the National scientific coordinator of the WG "Buildings" of Rete Italiana LCA and since 2012 she is member of the Board of Directors of the Association Rete Italiana LCA.
Since 2004, she is involved in national and international WG on sustainability of construction works (ISO TC59/SC17 Building construction - Sustainability in building construction, CEN/TC 350 Sustainability of construction works).
Since 2007, she is member of the WG on "Sustainable Production and Consumption. National Action Plan on Green Public Procurement" of Italian Environmental Ministry.
She is author of over 100 publications related to sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment in the building sector.
Expertise: Environmental assessment: Green Rating Systems (LEED, BREEAM, DGNB, etc.) and Life Cycle Assessment. Environmental innovation (low-intensity material, low energy intensity, recyclability, reversibility, etc.). Environmental sustainability of Zero Energy Buildings.
