A day trip to discover the extreme Northern point of Sicily: a strip of land between the Ionian sea and the Tyrrenian Sea facing the Strait and Calabria. A daytrip to discover Etna, the highest volcano in Europe with its amazing lunar landscapes, ancient craters and recent lava flows. The tour will take place on the northern side of the volcano, where nature is particularly luxuriant and the power of the muntagna can be felt in all its majesty. A walk on the board of ancient craters will take us to the heart of the volcano to see and touch the peculiar elements of its environment. The lunch in one of the most renowned wineries of the area will make the day a real immersion in the flavors and tastes of this amazing part of Sicily. Program:

• 8:30 am Departure from Messina on bus. A local tour leader will guide you all day long.

• 10:30 am Arrival at Piano Provenzana, the most important tourist and ski station of this side of Etna. The restaurants and hotels here were completely destroyed by the most destructive eruption of recent era: the “perfect eruption” of 2002. Easy walk to admire the recent lava flows.

• Continuation to Rifugio Citelli to meet a nature guide; departure to an easy trekking (about one hour and half) on the Monti Silvestri, a series of ancient craters that perfectly allow us understand the morphology of volcanoes and discover the typical vegetation of mount Etna.

• Lunch and wine tasting at one of the most historic and important wineries on Etna. 

• About 4:30/5 pm Return by Bus to Messina

• 9:30 am Departure from Messina by bus. A local tour leader will guide us all day long.

• Arrival at the Alcantara Gorges, descent to the bottom of the gorges through the public stairs, easy walk along the border of the river, with the possibility to refresh our feet in the fresh water if it’s a warm day!

• Lunch in an Agriturismo, based on local specialties, in the countryside between the gorges and Etna.

• Continuation to Taormina, walking tour in the center with its Belvedere, the Palazzo Corvaja, Corso Umberto I, enjoying the chic boutiques, the “gelaterie” and the amazing view on Etna and on the bay.

A day trip to discover one the Aeolian Islands: Vulcano. Did you know that the volcanoes got the name from this island? The archipelago is listed in the World Heritage List for the outstanding record of volcanic activity, and part of this can be easily seen through a pleasant walk to the top of the Grand Cratere della Fossa, the enormous volcano if its namesake island, where the sulphurous gases are permanently emanated. From the top, the view on the other islands is stunning and a tasting of the delicious seafood and the sweet dessert wine is a must! 

Program: 

• 8:15 am Departure from Messina center on bus to Milazzo. A local tour leader will guide you all day long. Boarding on a private hydrofoil. Arrival at Vulcano, departure for an easy trekking to the border of the “Gran Cratere della Fossa” to see fumaroles and to enjoy the breathtaking view on the other islands.

• 1 pm Lunch in a restaurant, based on seafood and local products.

• Some free time to enjoy the peculiar beach of black sand

• 4/4:30 pm Return to Milazzo by Hydrofoil, continuation to Messina on bus.
